Twitter Appoints Former Google Executive As Managing Director for Southeast Asia

Twitter announce appointment of Parminder (Parry) Singh as Twitter Managing Director for Southeast Asia, India, Middle East and North Africa. Previously, Parry was a Google executive in Asia, where his last position was Managing Director of Google Display Solution Sales for the APAC region. Parry also briefly held positions for IBM and Apple. Twitter's Asia office (outside Japan) is based in Singapore.

This isn't the first time Twitter has hijacked Google executives in Asia. In 2012 Twitter recruit two Google executives Shailesh Rao and Aliza Knox to build its Asia office. Parry will be responsible for building a Twitter business that is experiencing tremendous user growth, such as Indonesia and the Philippines, as well as driving revenue growth to the next stage in the Middle East and exploring commercial opportunities in India.

The appointment comes after Twitter held an IPO on the New York Stock Exchange which catapulted its share price by 73% on opening day and brought the company to a $25 billion valuation. Twitter has come under pressure from Wall Street after it was revealed that it was still posting (bigger) losses in the last two years even though in Q2 2013 it had earned $121 million in revenue. Twitter revenue still dominated from the United States (75%) and the company certainly hopes to increase revenue in other potential regions.

Parry Singh holds a Bachelor of Physics from Delhi University and an MBA (Marketing) from University Business School, Chandigarh, India.
