Traveloka Flight Search Service Enters Public Beta Stage

Traveloka become the latest service related to searching (and comparing) airline tickets and comes with status public beta. Founded by Derianto Kusuma and Ferry Unardi, this service specifically provides flight ticket search information that supports all airlines in Indonesia for various routes in the country (plus Singapore and Kuala Lumpur). Traveloka services even include Susi Air, AirAsia, JetStar, Tiger Airways, Kalstar Aviation and Sky Aviation which are usually not partnered with similar services. What are the privileges of Traveloka?

The first thing I noticed was the promo information. There are two sections of live tiles that provide the cheapest ticket prices (even claimed to be the cheapest) for popular majors at certain times. If we click on a route that has become our last choice, Traveloka will take us out to the official flight booking site. Buying a Garuda Indonesia ticket means being redirected directly to the Garuda website, while buying a Tiger Airways ticket is also directed to the Tiger Airways website.

Even though it is directed to an external site, we no longer need to be tired of filling in the parameters because the information displayed already directs us to the route and time we want before.

The second thing that makes me interesting is the way Traveloka displays a summary of search results. The results are categorized in different ways, such as "Best By Price", "Best By Time" and several options by time of day, such as "Afternoon & Afternoon" or "Afternoon & Morning". Of course, Traveloka also provides an alternative to the standard display for users who don't want a summary scheme like this.

It should be noted that at this time Traveloka has not collected any fees for its services. All prices listed are purely from the respective airlines. Ferry Unardi, who is one of the co-founders of Traveloka, said that currently his party is still focused on improving its search technology innovation. However, Ferry did not rule out the possibility of monetization in the future. Traveloka itself has now obtained funding from East Ventures -- which has provided early stage investment to various startups.

One of the search technology results that Traveloka excels at, according to Ferry, is its ability to provide alternatives for routes that do not have direct flights. For example, for example, we want to travel from Lombok to Balikpapan on a round trip. A search on Traveloka will return the Lombok-Surabaya-Balikpapan and Lombok-Jakarta-Balikpapan routes, and divide them based on the categories mentioned in point (2) above with information from all the airlines that serve them.

In general, Traveloka's display is intuitive, quite fast inload the combination of finding a complex flight route and in some parts reminds me of the Metro design that was carried out by Microsoft (for Windows 8 or Windows Phone).
