Global Venture Summit 2017 in Bali will Bring Venture Capital from Silicon Valley

Attended by more than 25 venture capitalists from Silicon Valley, 50 international angel investors and more than 100 corporations

For the first time in Indonesia, the Global Venture Summit will be held for 3 days in Bali (19-21 April 2017). An international event that will bring together more than 25 venture capital from Silicon Valley, 50+ angel investors internationally, more than 100 corporations and startups from Indonesia and other Southeast Asian countries.

To the media today (22/03) in Jakarta, GVS Founder Ahmed Shabana revealed that the choice of Bali as the location for this year's GVS is expected to become an international event on a large scale.

"Although this is the first time it has been held in Indonesia, we make sure that all venture capital, angel investors from the US, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore to China, are those who really have the intention to invest in Indonesia. So that the meeting will be able to help startups in Indonesia.”

Indonesia has now become an attractive market to explore, especially for international investors. This potential is one of the reasons why the first GVS was held in Indonesia.

Apart from being an event networking international scale, event Global Venture Summit 2017 later it will also be filled with activities such as discussion panels, startup promotions with booth to pitch battle with cash prizes for lucky startups.

“We have prepared about 30 keynotes and a panel discussion for the event filled by speaker from abroad, such as Justin Kan from Y Combinator, Dave McClure from 500 Startups to Indonesia, including Nadiem Makarim, Achmad Zaky and Nicko Wijaya from MDI," said Ahmad.

Also attending the event was Founding Partner of Kejora Ventures Sebastian Togelang, in this case Kejora Ventures as one of the supporters of the event saw that the 2017 GVS event was an excellent opportunity to be utilized by all startups under the guidance of Kejora Ventures and other startups.

“I have been waiting for a long time when VCs and angel investors from Silicon Valley come to Indonesia, with the 2017 GVS event, of course, it can open pintu wider for local startup actors to promote startups globally.”

In order to maintain the relationship that has been built later, GVS 2017 which is the first step to bring together international VCs to Indonesia, will be continued next year by holding GVS activities every year.

"Obviously we don't want GVS activities to just be a wasted activity after GVS is held, for that we will continue to approach and maintain good relations with startups, local investors and the government in a sustainable manner," concluded Ahmad.
