Pegipegi's Journey Turns Five Years Old

Targeting transaction growth of 200 percent in 2017

This year Pegipegi is five years old. So far, there have been many obstacles faced as well as solutions presented to continue to survive, compete and provide the best for its customers. At the age of five, Pegipegi are still trying to fulfill their ambition to become the best Online Travel Agent (OTA) in Indonesia.

Backtracking, one of the initial obstacles faced Pegipegi is educating the public. Pegipegi Deputy CEO Ryan Kartawidjaja shared this with DailySocial. However, over time, people have become accustomed to online ordering and transactions. This is also one of the impacts of the many industries and digital services that require online transactions.

"People who used to have to go somewhere to buy tickets, with the many online booking facilities it makes it easier for them to plan trips anytime and anywhere. With this online booking service, people can plan their own trips, starting from the type of airline, hotel, prices, as well as tourist destinations that you want to visit,” said Ryan.

The OTA industry is also growing due to the increasing number of people who are actively doing traveling. As if traveling is now a way of life for the people. From the data collected by Pegipegi, the average customer places an order two to three times a year. This is allegedly also due to the availability of affordable transportation such as Low-cost carrier (LCC) airlines that can be used by people from various circles.

Pegipegi's transformation in five years

Pegipegi started its work in the OTA industry in 2012, precisely on May 7, 2012. At the beginning of its existence Pegipegi only provided hotel booking services. Then in 2013 Pegipegi started serving flight ticket reservations. Until finally in 2016 Pegipegi launched train ticket bookings to fulfill the needs of their customers.

In terms of technology, Pegipegi's journey is also gradual. At the beginning of its appearance, Pegipegi could only be accessed through the website. Two three years later, in 2015 they finally released a mobile application, both for Android and iOS. In addition, the method of payment also continues to experience additions and improvements. At first there were only ATM transfers, Internet Banking, and credit cards, now Pegipegi customers can also make cash payments at Alfamart and Indomaret.

"Currently we are preparing to add destinations that are not only domestic, but also international to further complement the choice of Indonesian people's traveling destinations," said Ryan explaining Pegipegi's plans in the future.

Survive in the midst of competition

Not a little service OTA emerged in the last five years. This does not make Pegipegi afraid to face the competition. Ryan explained that one of the things that has made Pegipegi survive to this day is that it strives to provide the best online ordering service for its customers. Focus on customer satisfaction.

Furthermore, the presence of new players makes Pegipegi even more challenging. Ryan himself feels that competition in the OTA sector is still open. This is because people do not tend to only use one OTA. Next target

To DailySocial Ryan explained that based on the order data at Pegipegi, there was a significant increase. From 2015 to 2016, for example, bookings increased by up to 250%. This condition makes Pegipegi quite confident by setting a target for this year, doubling the transaction growth compared to the previous year.

"Seeing this fairly rapid growth, Pegipegi is optimistic that it will target at least a 2-fold increase in transactions in the following year. Therefore, Pegipegi has prepared various things to achieve this target, including developing an easier ordering service; increasing the number of orders. inventory, increase the choice of payment methods; and collaborate with various parties to present various attractive promos to ensure customer satisfaction. With this, we are optimistic in 2017. transaction growth will increase by 200% compared to the previous year," concluded Ryan.
