PasarLaut Help Increase Sales of Fisheries Cooperatives with the E-Commerce Concept

Selling maritime products to business buyers with a minimum transaction of 100 kilograms

Indonesia is known as a maritime country that is rich in marine products. Just like other commodities, the potential of this marine product should be optimized again with the trend of digital technology which is becoming more and more familiar to the people of Indonesia. One of the digital services that is here to fight for this is PasarLaut. Slightly different from most businesses e-commerce, Pasar Laut tries to connect fishery cooperatives with business class advertising buyers such as exporters, fish processing companies, as well as hotels and restaurants.

MarketSea according to one founderFarid Naufal Aslam can also be called an Online Trading Platform that specifically provides a consistent and sustainable supply of fish from fishing groups and fishery cooperatives. In addition, Pasar Laut also provides data on prices and stocks of fishery commodities in real time real-time and open it up to the wider community, so it is hoped that people from various regions can also do it trading fishing communities efficiently. Currently Pasar Laut itself serves the purchase of fishery commodities in large quantities with a quantity above 100 Kg.

“The marine market connects the Fisheries Cooperative which is the supply beginning with final B2B buyers such as exporters, fish processing companies, as well as hotels and restaurants. This fishery cooperative, which consists of traditional fishermen, collects the catches of fishermen through a fish auction mechanism. In this way, Pasar Laut helps these traditional fishermen get wider market access and better prices. In addition, Pasar Laut also helps solve problems Customer (exporters, processing companies, hotels/restaurants) who often have trouble getting sustainable stocks for their businesses,” explained Farid.

In addition, Pasar Laut also hopes to help fishermen to provide transparent information about prices and shorten supply chain leaders from the fish trade in Indonesia.

Things that are a challenge for Pasar Laut

Farid to DailySocial explained that currently Pasar Laut is one of the services that are really needed to solve problems in the fisheries sector. Especially with the current government's focus on increasing production in the maritime sector.

“When doing validation market by testing transactions on Pasar Laut at this time, we get inquiry up to 3000 tons of fishery commodities, although not all of them can be met by our cooperative partners. This proves that the potential in this industry is huge,” explained Farid.

What is currently still a challenge is infrastructure. According to Farid, the uneven distribution of infrastructure makes logistics costs quite high. In addition, services in the logistics sector still need to be improved, such as problems delay which can impact on the decline in fish quality.

PasarLaut operating under the support of PT Aruna Jaya Nuswantara is still trying to improve the platform while continuing to spread the use of PasarLaut at several points of fishery cooperatives in Indonesia. So far there are 44 fishery cooperatives throughout Indonesia that have joined PasarLaut.
