Japanese MicroAd Enters Indonesian Market

Get ready for the perpetrators online advertising agencies in the country, your business gets new competitors. MicroAd Japan which is part of CyberAgent, one of the largest advertising companies in Japan, established PT MicroAd Indonesia in collaboration with PT Corfina Mitra Kreasi as its business partner. According to the CEO of Corfina Mitra Kreasi, Suryanto Wijaya, who is also the CEO of PT MicroAd Indonesia, "MicroAd Indonesia will concentrate on the Internet advertisement portal with system behavioral targeting." MicroAd Indonesia was founded with an initial capital of IDR 1.8 billion with a share of 51% for MicroAd and 49% for Corfina.

This collaboration outside Japan is the second time for MicroAd. Earlier in April, MicroAd was already expanding in the Chinese market. MicroAd is part of CyberAgent which was founded in 2004 and has controlled 10% of the online advertising market in Japan. In Indonesia itself, MicroAd targets a range of numbers that are not much different. For this reason, in this first year, MicroAd targets to get 100-200 clients. CyberAgent Japan as the parent of MicroAd is certainly no stranger to readers' ears. Previously, we reported about CyberAgent Venture, investment arms CyberAgent who delivers funding for Tokopedia.

MicroAd itself isspin-off from CyberAgent's core business in 2007. In Japan, MicroAd serves 7 billion ad impression and 55 jute unique visitors Every month. The increasing number of Japanese investors entering the Indonesian market shows a positive trend that the Indonesian market is indeed very potential. Kentaro Watanabe, CEO of MicroAd said that Indonesia is a country with great potential because of its large population. Over the past few years, the population of internet traffic has been high, so Watanabe did not hesitate to invest in Indonesia in this ad networks business.

This can be seen from both sides as an opportunity as well as a challenge. Of course, in this era of globalization, startup companies in Indonesia must be ready to compete with foreign parties. In addition to the CyberAgent group, another Japanese company Rakuten has also entered to develop its e-commerce business under the name Rakuten Online Shopping (RBO) which is officially launched early last June and collaborated with MNC Group.
