Koprol User Community in Yogyakarta Could Be an Indication of Attracting the Rebirth of Koprol

Long time no hear, social media service Koprol that had died and then staying tuned for rise again seems to still have hope. Today, we surprisingly received news that the “Koprollers” (loyal Koprol users) will hold a national coffee ground event (kopdar) which could be an indication that Koprol will come back to life to enliven Indonesia's digital startup industry.

News from Satya Witoelar's Facebook account as one of the co-founder Koprol said that the city of Yogyakarta will witness the gathering of Koprollers in the Koprol 2 National Kopdar event which will be held on 18-19 October 2014 at Wisma Sejahtera, Kaliurang.

From the information listed, there is indeed no information stating that Koprol willlaunch the service. Koprol alone at this time hiatus after Yahoo! formally return all ownership of Koprol to its founders in 2012. Koprol National Koprol can be a place to meet the longing of the Koprol user community that was formed because of this local social media service.

After the closure of Koprol's services, there was quite a lot of speculation circulating about Koprol's future fate. There are indications that the current Koprol retainers scattered in Barito Labs and Ice House preparing to launch Koprol 2.0. This news is not clear continuation until this moment. Almost coincided with two years of his "death", the Koprol user community made a breakthrough with the gathering of its loyal users.

We shouldn't speculate that this kind of activity marks the birth of a new version of Koprol, but positive expectations are maintained. Satya Witoelar himself in the Facebook post said "Hopefully soon!", when asked about the possible return of the first Indonesian startup that was acquired by the Silicon Valley giant.

At a time when location-based service champion Foursquare has had to change its business model to stay afloat, the rebirth of Koprol is a challenge in itself to respond to local consumer demands.

For those who are still curious and might want to have a reunion with “old friends” on the Koprol platform, please refer to the Koprol National Koprol registration form in this link. Prepare a fee of two hundred thousand Rupiah (includes lodging and accommodation) to participate in all kopdar events which will last for two days.
