JD.ID in Indonesia

Officially launched in Indonesia in 2016, PT Jingdong Indonesia Pertama (JD.ID, a joint venture between JD.com and Provident Capital) implemented a number of steps to target users in Indonesia, including the presence of a warehouse, pop up store, to store outlets offline for gadgets and electronic products.

As of 2020, JD.ID has a company valuation of over $1 billion and holds unicorn status. Previously, in 2019, apart from officially announcing the acquisition of the first phase of Series F funding, Gojek also announced the continuation of the strategic partnership with JD.com in Indonesia. It was stated that the realization of this cooperation was in the form of a joint venture on JD.id and J-Express (JX).

Nonetheless, as an e-commerce company, JD.ID is not a dominant player in Indonesia. Quoting from iPrice data, JD.id's highest position was in the top six in the fourth quarter of 2018. At that time, the number of site visits per month exceeded nearly 17 million times. Then it continued to decline until as of the second quarter of 2022, his visits dropped 2,3 million times, placing him in 10th place.

Meanwhile, based on SimilarWeb data, visits to the JD.ID site have fallen to 1,6 million times as of December 2022. Finally, the JD.ID service is in 15th place from the most visited e-commerce sites in Indonesia.
