Interview with Kidalang, Indonesian Game Studio Winner of Tizen App Challenge at MWC 2014

Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona, Spain, made history for the studio game Indonesian named Kidanger, who managed to become the champion in the event The Tizen App Challenge. Kidalang's Sage Fusion 2 was the main winner for the Role Playing Game and Strategy category with a prize of $200,000, or approximately Rp. 2.3 billion.

Yusdi Saliman, co-founder of Kidalang, explained to DailySocial about his experience participating in this world-class competition. For them this is quite an interesting experience, because at first they never thought they would win.

“We were also able to attend Mobile World Congress and had the opportunity to demonstrate game we were at the Tizen booth at the event,” recalled Yusdi.

The Tizen App Challenge was held to encourage app developers to create apps that use this fledgling platform. For this event, the competition organizer give a total prize of $ 4.040.000. Prizes were distributed to 54 participants in nine categories, as well as the top 10 HTML5 applications.

Yusdi said that his motivation for participating in this competition was more due to the desire to produce games on many platforms. “We see the Tizen App Challenge as an excellent opportunity to bring game us to the Tizen platform.”

Yusdi further explained, it was a coincidence that Sage Fusion 2 itself was developed using HTML5 technology from the start. “This makes it easier for us to develop to various platforms such as iOS, BlackBerry 10, Tizen, and [Windows].”

Sage Fusion 2 is a mix of RPG, adventure and visual novel. “Our goal of combining these various genres is because we want to create game with a fairly high story weight. This is also one of the strategies to be able to stand out in the market mobile games most of which lead to casual games. "

So far, Kidalang has produced and published two game, namely Sage Fusion and Sage Fusion 2 in App Store and blackberry world. When asked about the Android platform and the plans for the Kidalang crew to publish games on this platform, Yusdi said, "if possible, of course, we also want game we can be played by Android users. We tried to do porting to Android, but HTML5 performance on Android at that time was not good enough so we haven't releasedgame us for Android. We haven't had time to try again on the latest Android version Android 4.4 or KitKat."

Pocketing approximately Rp 2 billion in prize money, Yusdi casually said that the money was planned to be used to make new games again.
