Impact of Local Tourism Increases, Budget Hotel Business Soars

After three years of being affected by the pandemic, the country's tourism industry is predicted to enter a new phase this year. Recovery has been seen and this industry is slowly starting to rise. This is also reflected in the increase in the number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia as well as the increase in the number of domestic trips.

Based on BPS data, from January to October 2022, the number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia has reached 3,92 million visits, an increase of 215,16 percent compared to the number of visits by foreign tourists in the same period in 2021. The increase was also seen in the number of domestic trips in Indonesia.

At the end of 2022, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said that Indonesia had solved it all time record with more than 800 million movements of domestic tourists throughout the year. This figure exceeds the number of domestic trips before the pandemic of 722,16 million in 2019.
