Indonesia is now the second largest market for Viddsee

Has collaborated with several local Indonesian media to help grow and reach a wider audience

After getting disbursement of funds Some time ago, the short film presentation platform Viddsee, based in Singapore, said that Indonesia is now the second market to spread after the Philippines. Viddsee himself has collaborated with several local media to reach a wider audience. This year, Viddsee remains focused on growing its market and one of the approaches taken is through the approach of the filmmaker community through the Viddsee Juree Awards.

In early March, Viddsee held an event called Viddsee Juree Indonesia Awards 2016 which was held in Jakarta. It was the culmination of a series of events roadshow which was held by Viddsee in six cities, Surabaya, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Malang, Bandung, and ended in Jakarta. The goal is to reach out to a community of filmmakers who have only known Viddsee personally online.

Viddsee Co-Founder Derek Tan said, “Community is very important to Viddsee, be it viewers or [film] creators, our audience is not passive. […] We want to expand the 'conversation' with the creators of [film] offline also. [Because] Many filmmakers know about us personally online, but haven't [never] been physically involved with us before. […]This creates an opportunity for us to bring filmmakers together to strengthen our brand appeal and create bonds with them.”

Although he did not disclose the figures, Derek also mentioned that now Indonesia has developed into the second largest market for Viddsee since the funding six months ago. Besides localize context, Viddsee has also expanded cooperation with several local media to reach a wider audience. Derek is optimistic that this year Indonesia will become Viddsee's biggest market replacing the Philippines.

Derek said, “I can't share specific figures, but [Indonesia] has grown to become our second largest market post-funding. All of our films are accessible in Indonesia. […] We have also formed partnerships with several media sites in Indonesia, where they share some of our short films through the embedded film player.”

“It's not really about business, but a way to syndicate good content for other publishers […] so they can grow their audience base too. At the same time, we also reach a wider audience,” added Derek.

Malesbanget is one of the media that collaborates with Viddsee to syndicate video content.

In 2016, Derek revealed that Viddsee will remain focused on trying to grow the market. In addition, he also wants to replicate the Viddsee Juree Awards initiative started in Indonesia in other markets to grow the community even bigger.
