Google Announces Plans to Introduce Cloud Region Indonesia (UPDATED)

Google today (04/10) held the Google Cloud Summit Indonesia 2018. The event was filled with speakers from startups and corporations who use Google Cloud. One of the interesting things is the announcement that Google will open a Google Cloud Region in Indonesia in the next few months.

Google Cloud Region Indonesia (some kind of data center or data center) will be the eighth in Asia Pacific after Mumbai, Singapore, Taiwan, Sydney and Tokyo. It is hoped that Google Cloud Platform (GCP) customers in Indonesia will benefit from the following: latency low and high performance in use.

"Google Cloud is committed to serving our GCP customers in Indonesia, quickly participating in the digital economy," said Managing Director of Google Cloud Asia Pacific, Rick Harashman.

In his presentation, Harashman also explained that GCP will make a long-term investment in developing the necessary infrastructure to support GCP's business in Indonesia. This is inseparable from customer requests in Indonesia who ask GCP to bring technical innovations in Indonesia.

"By expanding into new areas, we provide higher performance for our customers. Our customers have been asking us for some time to bring technical innovations to Indonesia and we are proud to be able to do so," carry on Harashman.

In his official statement, Head of Google Cloud Southeast Asia, Tim Synan said, "We bring the power of Google Cloud to businesses of all sizes in Indonesia and help them provide customized solutions across multiple platforms and devices."

Google is also introducing some of the power of artificial intelligence and machine learning embedded in its G Suite services. Such as data processing which is facilitated by chat, Google Docs that has been integrated with a translator, to a smarter image search in Google Slides.

Update: Google stated that the Cloud Region is different from the data center. Cloud Region is an availability zone designed to minimize latency and improve service performance in a region.
