Go-Jek is reportedly looking for more funds of 30 trillion rupiah
To fund regional expansion
Go-Jek is reportedly seeking new funding to fuel its regional expansion. According to the information disclosed Bloomberg, the funds that Go-Jek is pursuing reach at least $2 billion or almost 30 trillion Rupiah. Go-Jek has just launched a service Go-Viet in Vietnam as a result of its first expansion in Southeast Asia and will follow a presence in Thailand, the Philippines and Singapore. Go-Jek's latest valuation was in the range of $5 billion (nearly 75 trillion Rupiah).
Earlier this year, Go-Jek closed a funding round of $1,5 billion or around 20 trillion Rupiah. Included in the ranks of supporting investors are Tencent, JD.com, Google, Temasek, Astra International, Blibli, and a number of other famous names. These names are said to be back to support Go-Jek for this expansion.
Go-Jek is said to have refused to confirm this information.
Go-Jek began its regional expansion this year following the takeover of Uber's Southeast Asia operations by Grab. In the early stages Go-Jek prepared funds of $ 500 million (around 7,5 trillion Rupiah) for this purpose. After Go-Viet, Go-Jek has set up GET in Thailand. Different from Grab which equates its business identity in all countries, Go-Jek tries to localize the name and color that represents its business. In Vietnam Go-Viet is red, while GET is rumored to be yellow.
Not only transportation services, in neighboring countries Go-Jek also carries payment services and goods delivery services.
