KLAR itself was initiated in September 2020 by Ellen Pranata, Adelia Susanto, and David Sugiharta. Ellen was previously the Director of Cobra Dental, a company that imports and sells dental equipment. Together with Ellen, Adelia Susanto (Chief Orthodontist KLAR) is an orthodontist who has a lot of experience related to treatment with clear aligners.

Meanwhile, David (COO) is a dentist who specializes in prosthetics, aesthetics, and full mouth rehabilitation. These three executives were also accompanied by senior advisors, such as Gita Prihanto (ex-COO RuangGuru and ex-Senior Director Grab Indonesia) and Adrian Susanto (CEO of Cobra Dental).

KLAR relies on a B2B2C business model, complementing the services offered by partner dentists by delivering quality aligner technology, so they can offer these products to patients. Dentists and patients can interact and monitor treatment status remotely with the KLAR Smile app.

This added value has established KLAR as a differentiator in the industry as it can reduce the number of visits and time spent on periodic check-ups. In less than a year, the company has partnered with more than 600 dentists (general and specialist dentists) across the country.

To facilitate the community's need for neat teeth and an attractive smile, KLAR has been present in more than 100 dental clinics spread across 32 cities. Jakarta, Bali and Surabaya are the three most strategic cities for KLAR's business development. Operating in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, this startup is still able to increase revenue rapidly.

KLAR manages the company's operations from upstream to downstream independently, they even have a special production facility to produce transparent aligners, KLAR Aligner. With this approach, KLAR can maintain quality and reduce production costs.
