Bukalapak Integration of JNE Trucking Services for Large Goods Delivery

It is claimed that around 25 thousand sellers have activated the service since it was first launched in early February 2018

Bukalapak is the first marketplace platform that utilizes the JNE Trucking (JTR) service to facilitate the delivery of goods over 10 kg in size. Through this service, pelapak can send goods such as furniture, furniture, electronic goods, and others more freely.

JTR is a delivery service specially presented by JNE for the delivery of goods with a minimum weight of more than 10 kilograms. Delivery using a fleet of trucks by land and sea at competitive prices.

For the time being, JTR can only be enjoyed by pelapak located in Sumatra, Java, and Bali. At the end of March 2018, it is targeted that JTR will be available throughout Indonesia. If accumulated since it was first launched three years ago, JNE claims to have sent a package weighing 500 tons.

"We are committed to continuously improving our service. So far, there are still more deliveries in small quantities, but large shipments of goods continue to show increasing growth. Many sellers are uncomfortable because of the high cost and cannot be handled.track, this problem can be solved through JTR," said Bukalapak Co-Founder and CFO Fajrin Rasyid, Thursday (22/2).

According to Fajrin, internally JTR has been promoted since early February 2018. There are about 25 thousand sellers who have activated this service in their online store, but when viewed from the frequency of delivery, it is not high. Although Fajrin did not provide detailed figures, he described about dozens of packages sent via JTR every day.

JNE Vice President of Marketing Eri Palgunadi added that JTR is a solution presented by the company after paying attention to the growing potential of the e-commerce business.

According to Eri, the trend of people starting to try online shopping is starting from small items first. When they feel confident, the intensity of online shopping will continue to increase. Items purchased are even bigger in size.

"Since two years ago, we have seen in our data that there is growth in heavy goods shipments. This means that there is a market here, plus logistics infrastructure that continues to improve. Of course this is in line with our vision," explained Eri.

He claims JTR is cheaper than shipping by other methods. To illustrate, when pelapak want to send goods weighing 10 kilograms from South Jakarta to Bekasi using REG or YES, they will be charged Rp 90 thousand and Rp 180 thousand. Meanwhile, with JTR, they only need to spend Rp. 25 thousand with an estimated delivery time of 3-7 working days depending on the destination city.

To support JTR, JNE has prepared 10 large trucks to circle all areas of Sumatra, Java and Bali every day. Meanwhile, in total, JNE has around 2 thousand fleets of various sizes, 56 branch offices, and around 6 thousand networks to facilitate delivery access.

Eri said that the commercialization of this JTR service was indeed the first time that Bukalapak started. However, this is not an exclusive partnership. It welcomes other players to integrate its platform with JTR.

"But for the time being, if there are entrepreneurs who want to use JTR individually, they can't. They have to be the seller in Bukalapak first because they can only be there," he concluded.
