APJII and Mastel Form the First Digital Cooperative in Indonesia

With the cooperative concept, it is expected to be able to grow Indonesia's digital economy

The Indonesian government has just inaugurated the first digital cooperative in Indonesia. The cooperative, known as the Independent Indonesia Digital Cooperative (KDIM), has been approved by the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs. The cooperative is a joint idea of the Indonesian Telematics Society (Mastel) and the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII) with the aim of realizing Indonesia's digital sovereignty by providing services for the use of digital technology by its members.

In the welcome Minister of Cooperatives AAGN Puspayoga expressed his hope that after this Digital Cooperatives will develop an effective business strategy that can meet the economic needs of its members through these digital services. So that the vision that has been built can be achieved.

“A cooperative is an economic organization with a social and cultural character that has the following characteristics: books (helping himself), so that the common economic interests of its members become the basis for the independence of a cooperative,” said Pusayoga.

The General Chairperson of Mastel Kristiono is like quoted Mastel's official website reveals that the background for the establishment of the Digital Cooperative has encouraged the revival of Indonesia's digital economy sovereignty.

According to him, there are three pillars that became the reason for the formation of this cooperative. Namely the market, talent and entrepreneurship. For the market, Indonesia is considered to have potential that can become a strength, while for talent, Indonesia still lacks to realize it. All of this is expected to help growth entrepreneurship in Indonesia. .

Some time ago  Dalam the Public Expose of the Indonesia Mandiri Digital Cooperative which was held in Jakarta Secretary General of APJII Henri Kasyafi revealed that at this time Digital Cooperatives will focus on three areas, namely devices, networks and applications. Especially for the device field Henri revealed Digital Cooperative plans to have brand device smartphone own priorities for local applications.

In addition, this Digital Cooperative will hold an internet access program with the convenience of paying 1 time for free for 17 years or what will be called B1IG-17. This program allows the Cooperative to launch its own satellite with management and customer service still carried out by the ISPs so that this program will not interfere with the business of ISPs, most of whom are SMEs.

"With this scheme, we hope to control 30 percent of the smartphone market share, 70 percent of the application market share, and 50 percent of the satellite market share in the next ten years," Henry hoped.

Currently, even though it has been inaugurated, the Digital Cooperative still has not accepted members because it is still completing several partnerships with various parties. The plan is that the new digital cooperative will accept new members both online and offline online nor offline on July 1 next. People who want to become members will be charged with paying a principal deposit of Rp. 100.000 and a mandatory deposit of Rp. 100.000 per month.
