500 Startups Appoint Khailee Ng as Managing Partner for Southeast Asia

One of venture capital (VC) renowned Silicon Valley 500 Startups pointing Khailee Ng who is in charge of operations in the Southeast Asia region as Managing Partner. Khailee from Malaysia will help 500 Startups to invest more aggressively in Southeast Asia, including in Indonesia. In addition to Khailee, 500 Startups also appointed Bedy Yang as Managing Partner who concentrates on the Latin America region.

Prior to joining 500 Startups, Khailee had successfully built GroupsMore which was acquired by Groupon and SAYS.com which merged with REV Asia Bhd. Over the past seven months, Khailee has made 30 investments in Southeast Asian countries. With this appointment, 500 Startups will increase its presence in Southeast Asia with a new program to support and invest in startup founders in the region.

In Indonesia alone 500 Startups have joined the funding round Qraved and Bukalapak.

Founding Partner of 500 Startups Dave McClure in a press release said, "The best entrepreneurs can come from anywhere. And they can serve consumers from all over the world. You need a combination of local wisdom and a global platform to support them. And Khailee has everything from global-local quality. to help increase the presence of 500 (Startups) in Southeast Asia."

500 Startups is the next VC to be attracted to startups in the Southeast Asia region that are diverse and potentially massive. Previously, Fenox VC also increased its concentration here, including collaborating with Telkom in order to improve the quality of its incubator program through the Indigo Fenox.

500 Startups is known for its well-known incubator products and helps 850 startups from around the world to grow. Of the 850 startups, a quarter of them are from outside the United States. As a foreign VC, 500 Startups will compete and collaborate with a number of VCs from Japan and local-regional VCs who consider Southeast Asian startups to be the next big thing.

Dave asserts, "It's time to connect entrepreneurs to global funding, mentoring, and networks, wherever they come from. There's no reason why the next global company can't be built in Southeast Asia."
