Carousell Finally Provides a Web Platform

Providing the same concept and design as the mobile application, hope to reach more users

The availability of many platforms that people can use to shop has forced the marketplace to accommodate all of them. Starting from the mobile marketplace, this time Carousell announced the presence of their web platform. With the presence of this web platform, it is hoped that their users will be more spoiled with increasingly diverse shopping options.

Today, Carousel officially introduced their web platform. Carousell in its press statement revealed that this effort was taken to meet the needs of users to reach a wider market. Especially those who exclusively access Carousell via desktop or web.

Quek Siu Rui, Co-Founder of Carousell, expressed his joy at seeing the positive response Carousell received on this web platform. Although it has not been officially announced, the Carousell web platform has already reached 140 million page views.

“Buyers can also view and make purchases across the 26 million stores listed on our marketplace by sharing ways. So far, we have only worked with mobile-centric market segments. This web platform is a golden opportunity for us to reach a wider demographic and we are happy to take this step in accordance with our mission, which is to 'inspire the world to start selling'”, he said.

Another comment was also made by one of their other Co-founders, Lucas Ngoo. According to Ngoo Carousell, it's not just an application. They are a community that continues to grow through the transactions that occur. Starting from the feedback received from users, the Carousell web has been developed into a full-featured platform that can serve the buying and selling process like their mobile application. It's the same in terms of design. Carousell continues to carry a minimalist and clean concept to provide the best experience for their customers.

“While we are the first and foremost mobile marketplace, we know that availability across multiple mediums can remove barriers for newbie sellers to try Carousell. We didn't make this decision alone. We started developing the web platform after hearing requests from the community and we are very happy that they helped! Our users are always at the forefront of decisions about our products and we hope to stay that way in order to better serve our community and help our sellers be more successful,” added co-founder, Marcus Tan.

Furthermore, Carousell application users can directly access the web platform using the identity that was previously registered on the mobile platform. And vice versa. The two platforms have been integrated and have features that are not much different.

The development of the mobile marketplace in Indonesia is indeed quite busy. Noted names such as Lyke, Shopee, Tokopoket, Coral vying to be number one in Indonesia. Carousell's consideration of entering this web platform can be used as a signal that users need choice and flexibility.
